2017 Veta Alexander Little Theatre of Owatonna Scholarship Winners
LTO is pleased to announce its 2017 Veta Alexander Little Theatre of Owatonna Scholarship winners. They include:
- Rachel Bluhm, daughter of Jeff and Michelle Bluhm, Medford
- Abigail Hansen, daughter of Bret and Kari Hansen, Owatonna
- Mariah Dant, daughter of Daniel and Jessica, Owatonna
- Natalie Shroyer, daughter of Steve and Deena Shroyer, Owatonna
Bluhm is a 2017 graduate of Medford High School; Hansen is a 2017 graduate of Shattuck-St. Mary’s; and Dant and Shroyer are both 2017 Owatonna High School graduates. Recipients were chosen based on their academic record, community involvement, leadership quality, school activities, and involvement in LTO and/or other drama productions.
Funds for this scholarship are provided by LTO patrons as 4 percent of each show’s earnings are earmarked for this scholarship as well as individual donations and memorials made to the Veta Alexander Scholarship Fund.
Recipients will use these scholarships to further their education. Bluhm plans to study biology and work
toward a Master’s Degree in Physical Assistant at University of Wisconsin-LaCrosse; Hansen will study Harp Performance at the University of Toronto; Dant plans to attend either Luther or Concordia College to major in Music or elementary education; and Shroyer will attend Wartburg College to study biology for pre-medicine.
Bluhm will be recognized at the Medford Awards Day, Thursday, May 11. Hansen will be acknowledged at the Upper School Awards Ceremony at Shattuck-St. Mary’s, Wednesday, May 24. The OHS scholarship winners will be acknowledged at the Owatonna High School Academic and Scholarship Awards Night, Wednesday, May 24. A formal presentation will be made at the OHS One Act Festival, 7 PM, Thursday, June 1. Recipients will also be recognized on opening night of the LTO’s summer production, Funny Girl, Friday evening, June 16.
