Fall Production Cast Announced

Posted on September 21, 2016 by Glenice SwensonSeptember 21, 2016

Little Theatre of Owatonna’s “How I Became A Pirate” and “The Little Mermaid and The Prince” Cast Announced.

LTO is pleased to announce this production will feature two separate family-friendly shows. The first will be a short non-musical drama – “The Little Mermaid and the Prince”. The second show will be a musical-“How I Became a Pirate”.

The Little Mermaid becomes infatuated with a statue, which fell to the ocean floor and she travels to the surface of the sea to find the man who resembles the statue. Unfortunately, Malvina, the beautiful yet evil jealous witch, follows, hoping for an opportunity to exact revenge. When a sailing ship carrying the handsome, young prince is sighted by the mermaid and her companion, Malvina seizes the opportunity and conjures up a threatening storm. In desperation to save the prince from drowning, the mermaid is forced to trade her beautiful voice to Malvina for the prince’s life. Malvina is finally vanquished and true love wins out.

After intermission we’ll sail off on a fantastic musical excursion when a band of comical pirates lands at North Beach looking for an expert digger to join their crew. Braid Beard and his mates enlist young Jeremy Jacob, as they try to find the perfect spot to bury their treasure. Jeremy finds that adventuring can be lots of fun, but also learns that love and home are treasures you can’t find on any map!

Featured in “The Little Mermaid and The Prince” will be Brandy Wilker as Malvina the Sea Witch, Ana Wilker as Despina the Little Mermaid, Danielle Erola as Naiad the Little Mermaid’s Friend, Aaron Thevenot as The Prince.

Also featured for “How I Became A Pirate” will be Jason Erhardt as Braid Beard, Nate Chesney as Sharktooth the Pirate, Shelby Zempel as Swill the Pirate, Ron Hager as Pirate Pierre, Sarah Friesen as Max the Pirate, Jerry Ganfield as Pirate Seymour Braunschwagger, and Hank Bell as Jeremy Jacob.

The show is directed by Vidette Ostermeier with musical direction by Larry Ostermeier and technical direction by Kathy Purdie.

Show dates will be October 21, 22, 28, 29th at 7:30 p.m. and October 23 & 30th at 2 p.m. Tickets are available at LittleTheatreofOwatonna.org. Sponsored by Federated Insurance, “The Little Mermaid and the Prince” is by Hans Christian Anderson, adapted by Shelia Anderson and is produced by special arrangement with Pioneer Drama Service, Inc. Englewood Colorado. “How I Became a Pirate” is by Jan Yates Vogt and Mark Friedman and is presented by Theatrical Rights Worldwide.
