LTO 2017 Annual Meeting

Posted on August 30, 2017 by Glenice SwensonAugust 31, 2017

Little Theatre of Owatonna hosted its annual meeting on August 28th. The organization’s leaders were pleased to recognize the service of outgoing Board of Directors, approve a membership vote for incoming Board of Directors, and share the exciting productions for the next season, which includes two family musicals, a collection of performances celebrating traditions and experiences from around the world, a classic drama and a comedy.

At the meeting, LTO reported its impact on helping to create a healthy community through theatre. For example, the number of LTO shows to date is 203 throughout the 51 years of LTO. On an average, at least 100 to 150 people are involved in each production, which would mean LTO has had 30,450 volunteers over the years.

In addition, LTO leadership shared that it continues work to inventory the 4,000 piece Colette Flom Costume Collection, which LTO could purchase, thanks to the Wenger Foundation. Moreover, it was reported that a large project completed this past year was the update of LTO’s sound system, again, thanks to the Charles and Norma Buxton Foundation and the Owatonna Foundation. LTO installed the Induction Hearing Loop system, which transmits audio clearly to a T-coil hearing aid for the hearing-impaired patrons, as well as an upgraded the sound system, which benefits the audience, actors, and the crew.

Also on the agenda, members and supporters of LTO were encouraged to help spread the word about LTO Season Membership and share the joy community theatre brings to Owatonna. A Season Membership campaign is scheduled September 1-30th to increase season memberships.

Thanks to our dedicated volunteers that serve, or have graciously served, as a Board of Director that provides leadership and direction for LTO. Incoming Board of Directors include: Victoria Bartkowiak, Sandee Hardy Hagen, Craig Kautz, and Mike Jensen. Both Craig and Mike are returning for a second term. Outgoing Board of Directors recognized for their service were Nate Chesney and Drew Whitehead.

Members of the current Board of Directors include:
Mary Gontarek, Mark Kuklok, Norma Louis, Naomi Jirele, Brenda Hager, Curt Jorgensen, Linda Karnauskas
Kristi Westegaard and Sharon Stark, executive secretary.

Thank you to individuals, organizations, contributors and companies that support the Little Theatre of Owatonna.
