LTO’s ‘My Man Godfrey’ Cast Announced

Posted on March 12, 2018 by Glenice SwensonMarch 12, 2018
My Man Godfrey

Little Theatre of Owatonna is pleased to announce the cast for the spring production, “My Man Godfrey” opening April 20th.

In the depths of the Depression, Godfrey, a “forgotten man,” is rescued from his packing-crate home by ditzy socialite Irene Bullock during the course of a scavenger hunt. Irene offers Godfrey a job as butler to the banking family of Bullocks. Godfrey tolerates their eccentricities, alcoholism and general nuttiness. He cures hangovers, dodges missiles thrown by Irene’s jealous sister, Cornelia, and charms matronly Angelica Bullock, who sees pixies every morning. Irene and Molly, the pert Irish maid, both fall in love with Godfrey, but for Irenee it’s serious-and she’s determined to get her man. Falsely accused by Cornelia of stealing the famous Bullock Pearls (“de bullock boils” according to the detective on the case), Godfrey uses the opportunity to recover his personal finances-and, when the Bullocks end up going broke, he rescues them by getting them all (gasp!) jobs in The Dump, a new nightclub Godfrey has built to provide work for his friends and for the Bullocks, too. Finally, Irene weds her man Godfrey, and it all works out in the end.

The Cast:
Mr. Bullock – Bill Wood
Mrs. Bullock – Lisa Biwer
Godfrey – David DeNeui
Cornelia – Amber Boettcher
Irene – Sarah Esch
Molly – Sharon Gearin
Carlo – Jon Esch
Tommy Gray – Tim Fitzgerald
Faithful George – Zackery Knapton
M/C-Process Server – Darren Schaufenbuel
Hansome Cabbie – Mark Zollner
Detective – Ron Hager
Van Rumpole – Aaron Thevenot
Socialites – Dianne Suarez, Pete Johnson, Lilly Zollner
Mayor LaGuardia – Jeffrey Jackson

The Artistic Director is Jon Terrill and the Technical Director is Mary Butler Fraser. Performances of ‘My Man Godfrey’ will be 7:30 PM on April 20th, 21st, 27th, and 28th. Matinee performances will be 2 PM on April 22nd and 29th.

‘My Man Godfrey’ is presented in special arrangement with Dramatists Play Service.

Community theatre needs your help! The Save Our Stages Act, which has been incorporated to the CARES ACT 2, began as a push for funding to save music venues. As the legislation evolved, theatres were added in, but some of the wording remained the same, which may preclude community theatres from receiving funding. Wording in the Save Our Stages Act says you must pay artists/performers—see page 204, line 23.ADVOCACY ALERT - Save Our Stages Act Funding - Take Action Now! - mailchi.mp/aact.org/roundtables-321652 ...
